This pipe is definitely a holder rather than a clencher.  It's a
biggie for sure though, judging by the tooth marks on both the top and
bottom of the stem, some former owner thought it was a clencher.  I
suppose you could smoke the pipe as it is but it really should have a
new stem.  The top of the stem is holed and the bottom isn't far from
it.  Otherwise, there's a bit of darkening and rounding at the inner
rim.  On the plus side, the blast is deep and very attractive and the
nomenclature is strong - "Ben Wade" (script) over "Made in London,
England."  The shape number, 285 is stamped near the "B" of Ben Wade.
